Bill Murray takes JetBlue

Bill Murray Takes JetBlue

We’d like to thank Jaimie for sharing this story.

The man, the myth, the LEGEND came aboard our flight from Charleston SC back home to JFK, the day after he crashed the bachelor party and apparently an engagement photo shoot, on May 25th, 2014.

The plane was boarded and he was the last one to get on. When walked onto the plane, he kept walking down the aisle as the entire shocked audience looked on; I sat in Row 16, my sister in Row 15. To my astonishment, I look up and get a nice view of him placing his baggage above my head, as his seat was BEHIND mine. (What?! How random!)

Looked at my sister and she nodded – yup, it’s him. It has always has been a dream to meet him and then when the opportunity arose, I quickly made sure to say “Hey! I know you!” or something to some effect, mentioning of course the funniest and best guy all around, Mr. Bill Murray!

Because this was not a full flight, the stewardess asked him very nicely, “Mr. Murray, would you like to move up to the front of the plane? He quickly declined, I’m sure to not cause any more of a stir then he already had.

I mean come on, You Fly JetBlue, where First class does not exist, you’re a very tall man, and you decline a free upgrade for extra legroom? My man Bill!

My sister and I quickly jumped on that bandwagon and moved up to the front to sit together and let poor tall Bill Murray in the standard seats. I mean, what was I suppose to do? Recline and be all up in his space?

We descended into good ol’ JFK and waited patiently for Mr. Murray to get off the flight to politely ask him for a picture. At least that’s what we had hoped. When he did finally get off the plane I was so flustered I said “Hi again, mind if we take a quick selfie while walking towards Baggage Claim…” and he responded with “Hi, hello, how are you? My name is…” completely schooling us on how improper we were.

But no harm done. He put on his best smile and graciously took a picture with us. Needless to say it was the highlight of being back home in Brooklyn after a gorgeous, sun-filled, no rain weekend in Charleston.

I wish I could have invited him to my 80’s themed wedding – you can always use a good Venkmen in attendance!
