Editor: We’d like to thank Pat for his Bill Murray Story!
In May 1995, I ran into Bill Murray at the airport in Newark, NJ. A friend and I were watching the Bull’s game in the airport lounge waiting for our connecting flight back to Chicago on our way home from London. The bar was crowded so we stood behind everyone seated at the bar.
Scottie Pippen hit the winning shot and I let out a big yell, not on purpose, just excited. Well, I had pretty much yelled right into Bill Murray’s ear. He just turned around and smiled and I was like, wow, it’s Bill Murray, and I grabbed my backpack and scurried away.
We would like to thank Ali for her Bill Murray Story.
When I was about 10 years old, my dad took me to see a Nets game. He had gotten these amazing seats from work about 5 rows from the court. As soon as we sat down, my dad noticed Bill sitting about 4 rows directly in front of us.
A few minutes into the game, a food vendor selling cookies was walking up and down he isle. Bill stopped the vendor and bought about 5 cookies. He then stood up, looked around the crowd, and threw one directly at my head.
My dad and everyone else around us laughed hysterically and I just sat there staring blankly, confused and slightly embarrassed. He then sat down and acted like nothing happened and ate the rest of his cookies.
Now that I’m older, I can appreciate the humor in Bill Murray throwing a cookie at a 10 year old girl’s head in public.
